Alia Nahra was the special assistant to the director of the Justice Program. She conducted research, wrote and edited program reports and publications, and provided administrative support. Before joining the Brennan Center, she interned at the Prisoners’ Rights Project of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs in Washington, DC and at ArchCity Defenders in St. Louis, MO. Nahra graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with degrees in Sociology and Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. She has been published in the Critical Theory & Social Justice Journal and co-authored for Monument Lab’s Public Iconographies publication.
