Sara Carter is an Equal Justice America Fellow in the Brennan Center’s Democracy Program, where she focuses on voting rights and elections. Prior to joining the Brennan Center, she served as a law clerk to the Hon. William G. Young of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Carter earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she was an Executive Editor of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review and a Research Assistant for Professor Laura Weinrib. While in law school, she interned with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the ACLU Voting Rights Project, Legal Services Alabama, and the ACLU of Georgia. Carter grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and earned her B.A. from the University of Maryland with highest distinction.
