Today, FBI Director James B. Comey announced the results of the FBI’s investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal email server, including the FBI’s decision to recommend that no criminal charges be brought.

Elizabeth Goitein, co-director of the Brennan Center’s Liberty & National Security Program, is available for comment. Goitein is an expert on the classification system, agency intelligence gathering, and surveillance. She is the author of the report Reducing Overclassification Through Accountability and an opinion piece in The Washington Post titled ‘Five Myths About Classified Information,’ which discussed the classification-related issues underlying Clinton’s actions while Secretary of State.
