Young Mie Kim is a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Professor Kim is an expert on political communication in digital media. She has testified before the Federal Election Commission and spoken before the European Parliament. She has published in prominent academic journals in her fields, and her work has been featured in national and international press hundreds of times.
Professor Kim was the principal author of an article on the use of Facebook by anonymous and divisive groups in the 2016 election that won the Kaid-Sanders Award for best article of the year on political communication. She is a 2019 Andrew Carnegie Fellow. Her work with the Brennan Center involves analyzing the use of digital platforms in politics and the policy implications.
