On January 31, 2020, the Brennan Center for Justice submitted a letter to the Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety of the Council of the District of Columbia. The letter urged the Council to hold a public roundtable regarding the state of surveillance in the District and to create an oversight process for District entities’ use of surveillance tools. The Brennan Center’s letter was entered into the record of the Committee’s January 16 Performance Oversight Hearing.
