Senator Manchin Proposes Changes to For the People Act; Brennan Center Reacts
Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) has given Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) a list of changes he would like to see in the For the People Act (S. 1).
Michael Waldman, president of the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law, had this reaction:
“We’re heartened that Senator Manchin is open to progress on the For the People Act. His proposal recognizes reforms are needed on voting, campaign finance, and redistricting. Time is of the essence. We urge Congress and the White House to take this opportunity to move forward on the strongest possible bill at this time of crisis for our democracy.”
