New York, N.Y. – Daniel S. Goldman, NBC News and MSNBC Legal Analyst and former Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, has joined the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law as Fellow. In this capacity, he will contribute to the Center’s work on issues related to criminal justice, law enforcement and the rule of law, undertaking public writing to advance the debate in these areas.

We look forward to drawing on his experience and insights in the Center’s efforts to bolster our systems of democracy and justice.”
Goldman served as Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York between 2007 and 2017. In this role, he was Senior Trial Counsel in the Securities and Commodities Unit and Deputy Chief of the Organized Crime Unit. Goldman was engaged in a wide variety of prosecutions during his tenure, including numerous securities fraud cases, RICO and fraud cases against individuals associated with Russian organized crime, and a racketeering and murder case against the acting boss of the Genovese Crime Family. He was the lead prosecutor in the insider trading prosecution and conviction of renowned Las Vegas sports bettor William “Billy” Walters.
Goldman currently serves as a legal analyst for NBC News and MSNBC. He is a member of the board of directors of the American Constitution Society, as well as the advisory boards for LIFT-New York and the Center for Advancement of Public Integrity at Columbia Law School.
A graduate of Stanford Law School, Goldman clerked for Judge Charles R. Breyer of the Northern District of California and Judge Robert D. Sack of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to law school, he was an Olympics researcher and a writer for NBC Sports.
