Written Testimony Submitted to the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack

On March 31, 2022, Michael German, fellow with the Brennan Center for Justice’s Liberty & National Security Program, submitted written testimony to the Select Committee investigating the January 6th Attack on the US Capitol. He highlighted FBI mismanagement and bias that impacted its ability to analyze the significant warnings it received prior to the Jan. 6 attack. He discussed the need to focus the FBI’s authorities on criminal activities in order to gain a greater understanding of organized white supremacist violence, and prevent another intelligence failure.
