On March 19, 2024, Illinois held primary elections for the First and Fourth District positions on the Illinois Supreme Court. The First District candidates are competing to fill the seat vacated by Chief Justice Ann Burke, who is retiring due to reaching the state’s mandatory retirement age. Justice Joy Cunningham defeated Justice Jessie G. Reyes in the primary and will advance to the general election on November 5, 2024.  

Justice Lisa Holder White ran uncontested in the primary election for the Fourth District Supreme Court position and will advance to the November 5th election. She is competing to fill the seat previously held by Justice Rita Garman.
